YTN Prayer Update

Prayer Update:

Thank you for your prayers related to funding assistance for YTN.

God has raised up the potential of part-time assistance that would bring experience, expertise and some contacts to help augment the funding.  Please pray that we would have the resources needed to add this strategic need to the YTN Team.

YTN’s Board would appreciate your prayers for wisdom and protection.  The ministry team is facing many difficult decisions as we work to implement the revised plan approved by the EAC (Executive Advisory Council) and Board of YTN.  Also pray that God would raise up two additional Board Members from within the business community.

Please pray for three different foundation proposals currently in process around YTN’s National Preparation Conference.  Pray that these would yield the funds needed in a timely fashion so that the groundwork can be laid in the months ahead.  Already coalition members have agreed to participate in the training and preparation of our graduates: David Noebel from Summit Ministries, Josh McDowell from Campus Crusade for Christ, Brain Raison from Ohio State University, and Youth for Christ.

For the families of our YTN Team:

Jeff and Deedee Schadt: Heather (13), Jennifer (10), Paul (5) and Eric (3 months)

Scott and Kristen Blanford: Alex (7), Ainsley (5) and Audrey (2)

Greg and Deniel Hardin: Joseph (3), Jacob (2), Lacey (10 months)

Be Prepared Session

Culture Shock is a real & can prey on even our strongest students!

Leaving home causes many of their “God-given needs” (to be loved, accepted and to fit into a group) to go unmet for the first time.  As a result, graduates feel out of place, stressed out and alone.  These feelings are real and our students want them to stop.  This opens students up to trying and bonding with activities and people that they may have avoided in high school. Motivating them to connect to a ministry and to find a Christian roommate helps alleviate these feelings and puts our graduates in a place of support and accountability. This is the aim of the Be Prepared session.

This one evening session is discussion-based and highly interactive.  It helps students reflect upon the reasons so many leave the church, providing for great interaction around the reasons and then challenges them to avoid the pitfalls so many students encounter using Biblical examples and current college student video clips. The session runs an hour and a half and is best suited for juniors and seniors in high school.  When combined with a dinner, it makes a great time of discussion that has proven to help protect the investment you have already made in their lives.

Parents, help us see a preparation session occur in your youth ministry by becoming a YTN Ambassador.

Youth Leaders run a session for your graduates.

Be Prepared Campaign

The Be Prepared Campaign is a joint effort involving our nation’s largest youth, college, career, and military ministries working together to motivate, prepare and connect our graduating high school students to their next spiritual home. The Be Prepared Campaign incorporates direct outreach to youth online, along with video and preparation materials youth leaders can use to prepare their graduates. The campaign is designed to lead graduates to LiveAbove.com where they can find Christian friends, seek Christian roommates and open a dialogue with the ministries on the campus or base they are heading to.

Be Prepared Session

This highly interactive session incorporates biblical content and a professionally designed Slide Show Presentation with embedded video clips to prepare your graduates for the stress they will face when they leave home.  The Be Prepared Kit offers youth leaders the materials for a one evening preparation session that has proven to dramatically impact students' desire to: connect with a college, career or military ministry, find a Christian roommate and to continue walking with Christ.

Join YTN Prayer Team

Dear Ministry Team,

I am writing you from the Orange County Airport having just completed a two hour strategy session with Barnabus Group members.

Members delved into the structure of YTN and the various roles we play in a coalition environment.  After some in-depth discussion, Joe Class (President of Contexture) recommended that I seek your intervention in prayer.

It became clear, through the discussion, that I have too many jobs.   Managing the coalition, operating YTN, and serving as the development department have crossed my threshold of giftedness.

Last year YTN raised $520,000.  This year we are trusting God for $850,000.  The ministries in the coalition have told us that their good, full time, fund development people raise an average of $500,000 a year.  While I fill this role for YTN, it is also evident that it is not at the center of my true giftedness.  We are asking you to pray that God would raise up an answer to the genuine dilemma I face at this time. I believe God has an answer that has not yet been revealed.  Your prayer is exceedingly valuable to YTN in this regard.  As you pray please be listening for an answer.  If God brings something, some advice or someone to mind, keep that thought in front of the Lord, as I will contact you again in a few days to hear what God has laid upon your hearts for YTN to hear.

YTN is assembling an official prayer team.  We have seen God's hand at work in so many wonderful ways, along with Satan's direct attempts to sideline our nation's effort to protect its youth.  Please join our prayer team as we seek God's path for YTN and His protection for our Board of Directors and team.

Sincerely,

Jeff Schadt
